The Drakensberg Insurance Institute was reinstated on the 26 January 2012 after a few years that the branch was dormant. FIA Midlands Branch Chairperson Dirk Uys and Zarina Roopchund Media and Liason representative was there to congratulate the new Chairperson Mike Spain and Vice Chairperson Dale Cavell-Clarke. Zarina will also serve on the Drakensberg Insurance Institute’s committee.

On Thursday, 10 November, the Peninsula branch hosted yet another very successful charity golf day at King David Golf Club. A total amount of R 51 000 was handed over to the following four beneficiaries: Ruyterwacht Preparatory School, St Joseph’s Home for chronically ill children, Kleinmond Animal Welfare Society and little Inako Kom’s family to enable them to insure Inako’s hearing aid. Zurich Insurance Company was instrumental in providing the insurance at a discounted rate. There were 144 Golfers who participated and the prizes presented to the teams of four went down to thirteenth place. 24 sponsors consisting of almost all the product providers provided golfers with eats and drinks on the course and their generosity enabled the Peninsula Branch to make the handsome donations described above. Versekerde gehoorapparate vir Inako Kom In Augustus is Inako Kom se onversekerde gehoorapparate van haar ore afgesteel. Sy het erge gehoorverlies en sonder apparate was sy totaal van die samelewing afgesny. Sedertdien is haar apparate vervang, maar wat is nuwe apparate werd sonder versekering? Die Skiereiland tak van die Financial Intermediaries Association of SA (FIA) het na vore gekom en is bereid om Inako se gehoorapparaat en toekomste kogleêre inplanting te verseker. Hierdie ongelooflike skenking gee die Kom familie die nodige gemoedsrus. Die spesiale versekering is aan die familie tydens die FIA gholfdag wat op die 10 November plaasgevind het, oorhandig. Op Vrydag, 11 November, het die Tygerberg tak hulle Algemene Jaarvergadering op die skilderagtige wynplaas Nitida buite Durbanville gehou. Die komitee vir 2012 is verkies en die nuwe voorsitter is Leon Swart. Tim Timmerman gaan die rol as vise-voorsitter vervul.

On 5 and 6 November the members of the Boland branch met at Paternoster along the West Coast for their AGM and year end function. Special guests were divisional chairman, Robin Lautenbach, and Tygerberg chairman Tim Timmerman. On the 5th Robin celebrated his birthday and was given a special challenge to blow out numerous candles which relighted themselves the minute they were blown out! At the AGM, the committee for 2012 was elected, and Riaan Geldenhuys was elceted chairman for 2012. Geldenhuys, Riaan Geldenhuys and Jacques Jacobs.

Op 20 Julie 2011 het die FIA Jakaranda hul jaarlikse potjiekoskompetisie vir lede en ondersteunersvennote weer by Rietvleidam aangebied. Daar was ‘n uitstekende opkoms, met meer as 120 deelnemers en spesiale gaste teenwoordig en daar was van vroeg af tot laat-aand ‘n wonderlike gees van samesyn en feesviering. Die volgende ondersteuningsvennote het hul vlae kom waai en almal het gespog met die pragtigste, innoverende uitstallings. Brolink Momentum ST Mutual & Federal Multirisk Old Mutual Groepe PG Glass Santam Tracker Die wenner van die Potjiekos Koning trofee was Momentum, terwyl Santam die louere weggedra het met die Worsbraai Trofee. Hierdie jaar het die beoordeelaars ‘n baie moeilike taak gehad om die algehele wenner vir die Beste Gees en Stalletjie Inkleding aan te wys weens die strawwe mededinging tussen Mutual & Federal as naaswenners en PG Glass, die wenners (watse rol het die PG Glass meisies se sexy verpleeguniforms gespeel?) Almal wat die dag saam geniet het was daaroor eensgesind dat dit een van die beste en genotvolste potjiekosdae was en daar was talle versoeke dat dit meermale aangebied moet word.
